MYFOXNY.COM -- A college student from New Jersey never thought playing his favorite sport would land him in a hospital, near death. Preston Plevretes hit his head in practice and then got hurt again in a game.

There were warning signs, but he and his family didn't know them.

Preston had apparently suffered a concussion in the first injury, and the second once pushed him over the edge. Preston's condition took a turn for the worse, and he almost died.

Preston survived, but he will never play football again and now needs constant care.
