MYFOX NEW YORK STAFF REPORT

MYFOXNY.COM - The students and teachers of Don Bosco Prep School in Ramsey, N.J., are mourning the deaths of hundreds of their counterparts at a school in Haiti that belonged to the same Catholic order, the Salesians of St. John Bosco.

Officials estimate the death toll at the Don Bosco Institute compound in Port-au-Prince at about 500, about half of them students from 5 to 17 years old.

Students at the Ramsey school attended Mass Thursday to pray for the victims of the powerful earthquake that rocked Haiti last week.

Next week, the school will pay tribute to the victims during Salesian Spirit Week.
