MYFOXNY.COM EXCLUSIVE - Health officials in New Jersey are investigating what may be a salmonella outbreak at a popular restaurant in Newark. Dozens of people got sick after a party at Iberia Peninsula in the Ironbound section of the city Sunday night.

At least one person who was there has been hospitalized at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. Angelo Afonso's family says he is in the intensive care unit after suffering from severe gastrointestinal distress consistent with food poisoning.

Fox 5 reached out to the owners of the restaurant for comment, but did not hear back as of Tuesday night.

Local health inspectors were expected to examine the restaurant and its employees on Wednesday.
