MYFOXNY.COM - A soldier originally from New Jersey was among the wounded during the Fort Hood shooting rampage, according to an NJ.com report.

Alan Carroll, 20, of Bridgewater, was shot several times Thursday at the Soldier Processing Readiness Center as he prepared for a deployment to Afghanistan, the report said, citing friends.

He underwent surgery Thursday night.

Carroll, a graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan High School, is also a volunteer with the North Branch Fire Company.

An Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, is in custody and is accused of shooting fellow soldiers at the post.
