Emergency responders rescued an 810year-old Hackensack man who took a short-cut through the woods after fishing and got stuck in deep mud in Haworth.
Alfred Casamenti had gone alone to the Oradell Reservoir to go fishing. He then walked into the mud, thinking he could make it across. Instead he sank. Luckily he had his cell phone -- and yes, he had a signal -- and was able to dial 911 while clinging to a tree.
Responders kept him on the line so he could guide them to his location.
Casamenti told his rescuers that he was "sorry" he made a mistake trying to cut across the mud field, but they told him not to worry.
