MYFOXNY.COM - Law enforcement officers and firefighters played a soccer tournament at Giants Stadium on Friday to raise money for the family of murdered Jersey City Police Officer Marc DiNardo.

Eight teams composed of Hudson County police, fire and corrections officers and New Jersey state troopers participated in the DiNardo Family Cup.

The Jersey City police officer died from wounds he received in a gun battle.

The 37-year-old was shot in the face with a shotgun blast as he and other officers tried to storm an apartment.

DiNardo was a 10-year veteran of the Jersey City police department. He was married with three children; 1- and 4-year-old girls and a 3-year-old boy.

Robery suspect Hassan Hosendove, aka Hassan Shakur, and his wife, Amanda Anderson, had holed up inside an apartment after an exchange of gunfire on the street early on July 16.

Eight officers were injured in the operation, including five wounded by gunfire. Hosendove and Anderson were killed.

Officer Michael Camacho, who had been in critical condition after he was shot in the neck, was at the event.

A scholarship fund was established by the Jersey City Police Officers Benevolent Association:
