TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Federal investigators want New Jersey officials to turn over more than six years of documents, records and e-mails related to a failed Meadowlands redevelopment project.
The subpoena, related to the EnCap golf and housing project, was received by the governor's office. Robert Corrales, a spokesman for Gov. Jon Corzine, said it was cooperating with the request and noted that the documents sought predate the Corzine administration.
The Record of Bergen County, which obtained a copy of the subpoena on Friday, said it also seeks communications related to two other failed billion-dollar South Jersey golf and housing projects planned by EnCap's parent company, which hasn't commented on the subpoena.
EnCap filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy status in May 2008, just after the Meadowlands Commission declared the project dead. The project was officially ended earlier this year.
