6 Hurt in NJ Rooming House Fire; Resident Charged

Retaliation may be the motive for a Trenton rooming house fire that injured six residents, including a pregnant woman due to give birth this week.

Three other victims sustained serious burns in Saturday night's blaze and remained hospitalized Sunday in critical condition.

The fire at the South Olden Avenue residence was reported around 8:30 p.m., and authorities say 71-year-old Ronald Lee King — a resident there — soon walked into a police station and told officers he was involved in setting the blaze.

Authorities believe King was angry over recent complaints the victims made about him to the home's landlord. King was charged with aggravated arson and seven counts of criminal attempted homicide and remained jailed Sunday without bail.

The six victims were taken to Capital Health Systems at Mercer Hospital, and two were treated and released a short time later.
