NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The driver of a car that crashed into a street sign in Newark this week, killing a pregnant passenger, has been charged with manslaughter.
William Rivera also faces drunken driving charges stemming from Friday's one-car crash at Ferry and Oxford streets.
Authorities say the 39-year-old Newark man was driving with two passengers when the crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. The victim, identified only as a 33-year-old city woman, was in the front seat, but details on her injuries have not been disclosed.
Rivera and a rear seat passenger, whose identity was not released, both sustained non life-threatening injuries and were treated at University Hospital in Newark.
