MYFOXNY.COM - Three inspecors were trapped on scaffolding more than 30 stories above ground at a downtown Jersey City office building for about two hours, officials said.

The mechanical lift the workers were on apparently malfunctioned at about 2:30 p.m. Firefighters and other rescuers responded. A repair crew from the Manhattan-based scaffolding company also responded.

A gust of wind caused the lift to slam against the building, breaking a window, sources said. The workers grabbed the wires to try to steady the scaffold, but accidentally yanked out the power cord.

At about 4:25 p.m., crews were able to restore power to the lift, and the washers were able to get off the scaffold.

No one was hurt.
