Clifton, N.J., firefighters are used to saving lives -- and they also save jobs. They're giving up paychecks so the city can rehire 12 firefighters who were laid off earlier this year.
Watch the report from Fox 5's John Huddy (video, left).
Tough negotiations between the city and the firefighters' union ended with an agreement to work two weeks without pay to save money for the city. One week will be at the end of this month; the second week in October.
But it was a good Mother's Day because Fire Station No. 2, which was closed last March, reopened Sunday morning.
However, money remains tight in Clifton. Eight positions in the fire department remain frozen.
