MYFOXNY.COM - A woman was beaten into unconsciousness in the bathroom of a Manhattan bar after rejecting a man's request to dance, the NYPD said. It happened about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday at a bar called Social at 795 8th Avenue.
No one has been arrested and police are going through surveillance footage looking for clues. NYPD video from a camera outside the bar shows a man leaving the pub right after the time of the attack. The man can be seen shaking his right hand.
After regaining conciousness, the woman told police an unidentified man followed her into a bathroom, broke the stall-door and beat her.
The victim is described as a pediatric nurse from Connecticut. She reportedly underwent surgery Thursday.
She suffered a broken eye socket and other injuries. Investigators say she also may have been sexually assaulted in the attack but they are unsure.
The NYPD also released security video from a nearby convenience store that shows a man they belive may be the suspect. This person is described as a man in his 30s, wearing blue plaid button-down short-sleeve shirt over a long sleeve gray shirt and blue jeans.
