MYFOXNY/AP - As anticipated, thousands of unionized workers gathered in lower Manhattan for a rally.

The construction workers, electricians, builders and others are trying to increase pressure on the Port Authority and the developers of the World Trade Center site to finish work at ground zero.

Elected officials also attended the rally at 7 World Trade Center Park.

Construction is under way on 1 World Trade Center, a memorial, and a transit hub. But the building of other planned towers has stalled.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey controls the property, and is battling over financing of the planned towers with site developer Larry Silverstein.

An arbitration panel has given both sides until Friday to come up with a solution to the dispute.

Construction of the towers at the site could create thousands of jobs.
