MYFOXNY.COM - An 8-year-old boy was found dead and his socialite mother near death at a luxury Midtown Manhattan hotel on Friday morning in a possible murder-attempted suicide.
The incident was uncovered late in the morning at the Peninsula Hotel.
The NYPD is investigating it as a murder-suicide attempt. Police said the mother, a Belgian socialite named Gigi Jordan, 49, made incriminating statements to detectives.
Cops found a suicide note at the scene, the AP reported.
The woman's relatives contacted police Friday, saying they feared the child was in danger, according to the NYPD. Jordan was apparently distraught over the end of her marriage.
The Post reported that the boy was found lying in bed wearing his pajamas and surrounded by thousands of prescription pills. A police source did say that prescription medication may have been involved.
Jordan was reportedly distraught over the end of her marriage.
The Daily News reported that Jordan was "babbling incoherently" when police found her on the floor of Room 1154.
She was listed is stable condition, the AP reported.
The five-star hotel is located on swanky 5th Avenue between Central Park and Rockefeller Center. Rooms at the hotel can go from $600 to $7,000 a night.
