MYFOXNY.COM - The Animal Medical Center celebrated its 100th anniversary on Monday.
The non-profit veterinarian hospital on the Upper East Side of Manhattan handles 40,000 patient visits a year.
The Animal Medical Center is the world’s largest hospital for companion animals and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Animal Medical Center trains over 250 veterinarians a year. It houses the world’s first fully dedicated interventional radiology & endoscopy department, cancer center and is home to the discovery of a groundbreaking DNA-based melanoma vaccine developed in conjunction with Sloan Kettering.
The AMC will ring the bell at the NASDAQ on Tuesday as part of the celebration.
When the hospital opened its doors in 1910, construction of the original Penn Station and the New York Public Library were both still being built and William Howard Taft was the nation’s president.
