MYFOXNY.COM - The bed bug problem in New York is so bad that it is even affecting the city's Department of Health, according to a report in the New York Post.

Workers on the eighth floor of the Health Department building at 346 Broadway say they are getting bitten again; they had a bed bug problem there in 2007, too.

Health Department officials said that exterminators have been called in to deal with the problem, which is notoriously hard to do.

The report of the critter problem in city offices follows news this week that John Jay College had to close one of its buildings because of a bed bug "condition."

Bed bugs, once uncommon in industrialized nations, have become such a problem in New York that the City Council created an Advisory Board to figure out how to deal with the critters.

Bed begs, which feed on human blood, are not known to transmit disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Web site.
