Melanie Oudin is taking New York by storm with her performance at the U.S. Open in Queens

The 17-year-old from Marietta, Georgia is ranked 70th in the world in her second year of professional tennis but she's been playing like a seasoned pro at Flushing Meadows.  Her height is listed at 5'6".

Oudin turned professional in February 2008.

At the 2009 Wimbledon Championships Oudin made it to the fourth round and is there again at the U.S. Open.

Oudin beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-2, 6-1 in the first round.

In the second round, she ousted fourth-seeded Elena Dementieva 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

In the third round she beat Maria Sharapova 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.

She will face 13th seed Nadia Petrova in the round of 16.

If she wins, she'll be in the U.S. Open quarterfinals.  Oudin is the youngest female to reach the fourth round at the Open since 1999, when Serena Williams won her first title at the age of 16.

Oudin was given a good luck cake at a Times Square photo op on Sunday.
