MYFOXNY.COM - UDPATE: Fire Island ferry service has been restored.
The approaching hurricane will disrupt ferry service to Fire Island on Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
The 3 p.m. series of boats will be the last to leave Bay Shore, Long Island, for Fire Island on Friday, according to officials with Fire Island Ferries.
Boats in the 3 p.m. series will make their scheduled returns to Bay Shore.
Full service is expected to be restored at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Fire Island Ferries points out that the Dunewood ferry with a 3:30 p.m. return (instead of the scheduled 4:30 p.m. return) and the Fair Harbor ferry with a 3:30 p.m. return (instead of its 4:20 p.m. return) are the only exceptions to the service change.
