MYFOXNY.COM - Scott "Scooter" Braun, the manager for teen pop sensation Justin Bieber says he did nothing wrong in an exclusive interview with Fox 5 News.
Braun turned himself in to Nassau County Police and was arrested on Long Island Wednesday.
His arrest stems from a November 2009 appearance by Bieber at Roosevelt Field Mall.
When the large crowd, numbering in the thousands, became unruly, police told Braun to send out a Twitter message saying the event was canceled.
The prosecutor says it took Braun 1 1/2 hours to send two tweets. Braun said it took seven minutes.
Braun faces up to one year in jail if convicted on reckless endangerment and criminal nuisance. He says the store was running the event and was in charge of security.
Braun tweeted for fans to leave the Garden City mall because police were threatening to start arresting unruly fans.
"they are not allowing me to come into the mall. if you dont leave I and my fans will be arrested as the police just told us," he tweeted at about 4:30 p.m. that day.
About 3,000 fans were gathered outside the Justice clothing store on the 2nd tier of the mall.
As the crowd surged toward the location, fans started aggressively pushing and shoving. That prompted the dispatch of 35 Nassau County Police units and several Garden City Police units to manage the crowd. Mall security closed many entrances to prevent more fans from entering.
Police canceled the event and dispersed the crowd. Five people suffered minor injuries.
At about 4:32 p.m., Braun tweeted again: "the event at roosevelt mall is cancelled. please go home. the police have already arrested one person from my camp. I dont want anyone hurt."
Bieber, 16, is a Canadian singer who was discovered on YouTube.
He posted a photo of himself on Twitter wearing a Free Scooter t-shirt. The tag #FREESCOOTERBRAUN was trending on Twitter early Thursday.
