The state Chief Medical Examiner's Office says that two skulls found by a grieving family at a Bridgeport cemetery are human.
The two skulls were found on a newly dug Mountain Grove cemetery plot July 3. The skulls were discovered after Elda and Iris Hernandez came to visit the grave of their father.
The skulls were stuffed with eight strips of what appeared to be bloodstained paper, each with a person's name on it. Family members did not recognize any of the names.
Police said Wednesday that one skull is from a female, the other belonged to a male and the medical examiner says the skulls are quite old.
Police say the skulls were dug up from a grave and further testing is needed to determine who they are.
