MYFOXNY.COM - After her funeral, pallbearers dressed in white carried the body of 11-year-old Briana Ojeda in a white casket, followed by her family. They, too, were dressed in white to symbolize the innocence of the little girl they called an angel. They laid her casket in a white and glass hearse adorned with pink and peach flowers drawn by white horses.

Briana died after an asthma attack. Her mother, Carmen, was rushing her to the hospital when she hit a parked car while driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

Carmen Ojeda said a police officer boxed her in with his patrol car and couldn't perform CPR on her suffering daughter. All police cadets are trained in CPR at the police academy, the NYPD said.

The NYPD identified that officer as Alfonso Mendez of the 84th Precinct.

During the funeral at St. Francis Church in Park Slope, her father read a poem saying that Briana would always be by their side.

As for the officer's fate, Ojeda said he would leave that in "God's hands."

Rebecca Roldan, Briana's teacher, said the girl was a role model.

Fox 5 went to Officer Alfonso Mendez's apartment in Ridgewood, Queens. No one answered at the door.

Officer Mendez has been suspended without pay. His gun and shield were taken away pending an investigation by Internal Affairs.
