MYFOXNY.COM - After the shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, where a soldier allegedly fired on other service members, Army posts in the New York area beefed up their security.
Officials at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn and Fort Dix in New Jersey say that security is always a concern, but that they have definitely stepped up measures. The Army said it wants to make sure that every thing is OK and all their people are safe.
Some soldiers and their families at Fort Hamilton told Fox 5 news that they were dazed by the news of the tragedy in Texas. They said that they can't believe a fellow soldier allegedly opened fire on his own people.
Fort Hamilton, at the foot of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, is the third oldest in the nation.
Fort Dix, in Burlington County, N.J., was the target of a foiled
terrorist plot in 2007.
