Police say an officer in the Bronx shot and wounded a 17-year-old boy after he punched a second officer in the
face while brandishing a gun.
Police gave the following report of Sunday's shooting: Two officers, a man and a woman, were on patrol about 9:23 p.m. at a residential building when they came upon a teenager in a 6th-floor stairwell. The teen punched the female officer.
The 17-year-old then pulled a .22-caliber gun and pointed it at the other officer, who pulled his service weapon. The officer opened fire, striking the teen in the torso.
The boy was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
