MYFOXNY.COM - An Amtrak derailment in Queens caused big headaches for the Monday evening commute on the LIRR.
Video from SkyFoxHD showed railroad workers tending to a stopped Acela train in Sunnyside, not far outside the East River tunnel.
Amtrak officials said two cars of Amtrak train No. 2158, traveling from Washington to Boston, experienced a low-speed derailment at about 12:25 p.m. The train was carrying 147 passengers. No one was hurt, Amtrak said.
Those passengers were transferred to another train and returned to Penn Station.
The Long Island Rail Road canceled 16 eastbound trains during the Monday afternoon rush hours. Customers were warned to anticipate delays.
