MAHWAH, N.J. (MYFOXNY.COM) - Police are questioning the ex-husband of a woman found unconscious and badly injured in a northern New Jersey hotel parking lot.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office says 46-year-old Laura Matosek of Valley Cottage, N.Y., is in critical condition at a New Jersey hospital after suffering apparent stab wounds.
Matosek was found in the parking lot of the Sheraton Crossroads Hotel in Mahwah, N.J., at 8:30 a.m. Friday. She was supposed to meet a co-worker there to get a ride to work.
The prosecutor's office says Matosek divorced Allan Pelcak Jr. of Spring Valley, N.Y., about 2½ years ago.
Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli says Pelcak has been detained for questioning but is not under arrest.
The woman's nearly lifeless body was dumped in the parking lot of the Sheraton Cross Roads Hotel at around 8 a.m.
A middle school in Valley Cottage, New York, was placed in a 'lock-out' because the couple's two children go to school there. Police were not letting anyone to enter or leave the Liberty Elementary School on Lake Road.
According to The Record of Bergen County, the children were found safe inside the building. School officials tell the paper the lockout was a precaution as police searched for the children's father.
