NYC Teacher Suspended Over Short Story in Class

MYFOXNY.COM - Students of an English teacher at a Bronx school are lobbying to save his job, according to reports. In October, Greg Van Voorhis showed his class copies of Chuck Palahniuk's short story "Guts," which is about a teenager's masturbation habits.

Word soon got out, and the Bronx School of Law and Finance reassigned Van Voorhis to a non-teaching administrative position while the Department of Education investigates, according to the department.

Some of his students created a Facebook group called "Save Mr V," on which students have posted mostly supportive messages amid some negative ones. The Facebook group has more than 300 members.
