Five million "pink slips" have been sent to members of Congress by voters who are warning them to abandon Washington's "charge-it-and-spend-it" programs, new energy taxes and proposed health care plan, according to the conservative WorldNetDaily Web site .

Tuesday several Republican politicians, including U.S. Reps. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.); Louie Gohmert (R-Texas); Steve King (R-Iowa); and Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), joined people from WorldNetDaily to endorse the campaign on Capitol Hill.

"The pink slips program is a great way to get the attention of members who have forgotten they will have to answer to the people next year on out-of-control spending and Washington power grabs," Rep. Bachmann said at the rally which prominently displayed the pinks slips. "I support it! And I want my constituents to know I hear them loud and clear."

"These pink slips are a call for fiscally responsible and constitutionally responsible Americans," Rep. King told CNN .

The initiative, which started in September, lets people send a pink slip to every member of Congress. The pink slips, which can be ordered on Send Congress A Pink Slip Web site and cost $29.95, state "You are being put on notice" and list four items that the group is against: government health care; cap and trade; "hate crimes"; and any more spending.

It is signed by the participant and warns, "If you vote for any of these, your real pink slip will be issued in the next election."

Though the messages are being sent to all 535 members of members of the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate , some politicians have supported the effort. Sen. Jim Demint (R - S.C.) spoke with Greta Van Susteren on FOX News Tuesday night and said, "Thousands of pink slips [are] coming to the senator's office, congressman's office, telling them we are on notice if we vote for government health care or cap and trade or any more spending, we're fired. And I think it's a great effort."
