Shoppers hitting Old Navy stores on Saturday for $1 flip-flops created fights at one location and large crowds nationwide.
The South Bend Tribune reported about 1,000 people in line outside of a store in Mishawaka, Indiana, where police were called to break up fights. One woman told the paper, "I wouldn’t behave like that for all the tea in China. It was absolutely a riot." She left the scene without getting anything.
In Columbus, Ohio, the Post-Dispatch said police were keeping a close eye on people who had crowded a store at the Easton Town Center. "Everything is OK, but we're keeping an eye on the situation," said a dispatcher in the Clark County Sheriff's Office.
Another eyewitness at an Old Navy in Central Jersey reported that lines were wrapping inside the store.
Old Navy is offering the $1 price on all of its solid color flip-flops. They are limited to five pairs per customer.
Earlier this month, KFC locations were flooded with angry customers after the customers tried to redeem coupons for free grilled chicken meals.
