MYFOXNY.COM - The pilot who made a bizarre landing in the surf of a Queens beach was taken from his family's home in an ambulance.
Fox 5 News has an exclusive photo of Jason Maloney being brought out of the home on a stretcher Wednesday afternoon.
His father told Fox 5's Brian Andrews that the family had called the ambulance for him. It is unclear why he needed to be taken to the hospital but Cornwall police called it a medical emergency.
Andrews says Maloney looked dazed and was not wearing shoes. He was trying to cover himself from the camera with a blue jacket.
Maloney was taken to St Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. He was later transferred to another facility, a source told Fox 5's Andrea Day.
On Monday night Jason Maloney took off in a single-engine Piper from Republic Airport in Farmingdale, Long Island. He had two passengers, Clarke Oler, 22, and Chelsea Protter, 21 onboard the plane.
A short time later, Maloney was recorded asking air traffic controllers if it was OK to land on the beach. When told that it wasn't allowed unless there was an emergency, he said one of his passengers wasn't feeling well.
The NYPD rushed into emergency mode when the plane made the landing. No one was hurt in the incident.
Maloney could lose his pilot's license and he might be fined after an investigation.
The Federal Aviation Administration said that the plane was returned its owner, who will have it inspected and will report the findings to the administration.
