MYFOXNY.COM - Although the Fox 5 Weather Authority says we can expect some rain this weekend that's no excuse for staying cooped up.
Here are some events going on in and around the city to consider:
* The smooth, swinging sounds of John Pizzarelli at the Blue Note in Greenwich Village live through Sunday. Call for various show times and ticket availability.
* Lost your job? On Saturday, why not try Laid Off Camp at Pace University. This first of its kind event in New York City will help you meet people in your situation and survive in this terrible economy. Panelists and speakers to be announced.
* The 48th Annual May Gardeners Market takes place in Cos Cob, Connecticut, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You'll find lots of interesting plants to buy and tap into the resources of experienced gardeners.
* Broadcast is a free exhibit at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery in Greenwich Village. This exhibit examines artists who use mass media as both the subject and medium for their work.
* Dodge the rain drops at the The Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be lots of food, fun and entertainment for the whole family.
If the weather holds out ,here are some other Street Fairs around the city:
Saturday May 2nd
Romania Day Festival
(on Broadway from Fulton Street-Battery Place)
Sunday May 3rd
The Annual Village Fair
(on Broadway from Houston-Grand Street)
* Take the kids to the Nassau County Museum of Art to see "Babar's Museum of Art ". This exhibit offers kids a unique look at the loveable Babar the elephant. The exhibit runs through May 26.
