A police officer shot an armed suspect in Brooklyn Tuesday, authorities said. The suspect was listed in serious condition at Brookdale Hospital after being shot in the chin and chest.
An officer approached the man near Winthrop Avenue and East 93rd Street in Brownsville when the man ran off, according to the NYPD. The officer gave chase and opened fire when the fleeing man pulled out a gun, according to authorities.
The police said they recovered the suspect's weapon -- a .357 Magnum revolver -- at the scene.
The officer was treated at Methodist Hospital.
