Every time an earthquake hits the Tristate area -- like the small one that rocked Morris County , N.J., Monday -- it renews talk about the "Big One." Is the New York area vulnerable to a strong earthquake? The answer is actually a bit disturbing: While New York and New Jersey don't have a ton of seismic activity, even a moderately strong quake could do serious damage in urban areas.
