MYFOXNY.COM - U.S. Senator Charles Schumer is looking to increase funding for mass transit and increase tax breaks for people who commute using mass transit.
Schumer has proposed increasing the pretax money that commuters can use for trasit fares to $230. That is double the current amount and would equal the amount people can use to pay for parking.
New York's senior senator is also supporting an additional $5 billion for mass transit spending.
