July 10, 2009 -- The MPAA originally rated the movie NC-17. Cuts were made, but not enough in my opinion to be awarded an R. An NC-17 would severely damage the movie's box office potential. Most multiplexes do not show NC-17 movies. was the MPAA pressured to give an R? Given the raunchy, sexually explicity content there is no logical explanation for an R. The movie is absolutelyt off limits for anyone under 18. The Coming Attraction trailer is misleading. It presents Bruno as another wacky Sacha Baron Cohen comedy. Do not be fooled into thinking the comedy is like an R-rated Judd Apatow comedy. Not all R's are equal, especially when an R should have been an NC-17.
