Traffic is crawling along the northbound car lanes, too.
The crash is also leading to tie-ups on the Garden State Parkway and Routes 1 and 9.
SkyFoxHD Reporter Chris Christi was over the crash throughout the morning.
NJ Turnpike officials say a driver pulled over to help a disabled vehicle and that lead to a domino effect with several vehicles involved in a collision. One vehicle and its driver were pinned under a tractor-trailer.
Several people were injured. One person is in critical condition.
NJ Transit trains are honoring bus passes.
