MYFOXNY.COM - More than a dozen New York City public schools that were closed because of a high number of students and staff with flu-like symptoms are set to reopen after the long holiday weekend, while at least 17 programs remain closed or are closing for the first time. Also, a number of private schools have also decided to reopen or delay closing for now.

Meantime, city officials are not saying much about the woman in her 50s who dies over the weekend from swine flu. A city health department spokeswoman said the woman had underlying health conditions. The federal government's latest count of confirmed or probable cases of swine flu in New York state is 327.
The Health and Education departments have updated their list of school closings due to the high number of students and staff with flu-like symptoms. As of Monday, May 25th, 17 public schools and programs -- 7 in Queens, 5 in Brooklyn, 3 in Manhattan, and 2 in the Bronx -- will be closed on Tuesday, May 26. A total of 20 schools and programs that were previously closed will reopen on Tuesday.
All other New York City public schools are open and operating normally. We are working with the Department of Health to keep New Yorkers informed and the latest information will always be available on this page.
