MYFOXNY.COM - Experts say there no simple cure for bad breath. When rinsing, flossing and brushing won't do the trick, maybe zapping it is the way to go.
Dr. Sapna Parikh reports about a laser procedure that promises to zap the source of her problem (see video, left).
According to Dr. Yosef Krespi, the culprits for that unpleasant smell can be tonsil stones.
Bacteria tends to live inside the tonsil tissue, and if it bacteria builds up it can become a hardened stone. For some people the stones can also be a source of bad breath. The laser procedure to zap them away is done under local anesthesia right in the office.
Within minutes, the tonsil stones and the bad breath are hit with the laser and gone for good.
Right after the procedure you can go right back to work, but it takes a couple of weeks to heal. The procedure runs about $2,000, but it may be covered by insurance.
