Text of Julie Chang's report for Good Day NY:
TEEN CHOICE AWARDS: Team Edward or team Jacob? Turns out when it comes to Teen Choice Awards, the wolf takes a bite out of a vampire. Comedian George Lopez a.k.a. Kougar Kardashian wasn't the only one screaming for Taylor Lautner. The muscular star from Twilight scooped up several surf board awards for ‘choice actor fantasy, ‘choice male hottie’ and ‘choice smile.’ All in all Twilight garnered 12 wins. Sandra Bullock won ‘choice movie actress drama.’ She celebrated by gettin' low with Betty White and that was just a few of the highlights from last night's Teen Choice awards. I'll have more fun moments in the 9 a.m. hour.
HBO NY JETS RALLY: HBO Sports is giving some young fans a "jet set" chance at joining the Jets. Today at Noon in Times Square, there will be a fan kick off rally to mark the launch of HBOS new reality series, "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets" which premieres tomorrow night. However, before the rally, there'll be pre-registration for kids between the ages of 8 and 15 to become a pre-season jets assistant team captains. This involves a skills competition so be prepared. Also, fans will have a chance at winning pre-season game tickets and a VIP parking pass. Several Jets players will also be at the rally. The exact location of the Jets/HBO rally will be on Broadway between 42nd and 43rd Streets also known as the Broadway pedestrian mall.
PORTIA ROSSI NAME CHANGE: Actress Portia de Rossi is hoping to change her name to Portia Lee James Degeneres. The actress who married TV host, comedian Ellen Degeneres filed the name change request a few days ago with a Los Angeles court. De Rossi married Degeneres two years ago when same sex marriage licenses were being issued. Since then, a law passed by California voters banned gay marriage in the state, but just last week, a federal judge in the sunny state declared the ban un-constitutional. The judge's decision now sits with a higher court.
