In news making medical headlines Friday: a crunchberry lawsuit in California is real... and bad health can lead to bankruptcy.

Watch the video, left, for the full report by Dr. Sapna Parikh.

MEDICAL BANKRUPTCY: One of the biggest reasons people declare bankruptcy is because of high medical bills.  A recent report looked at personal bankruptcies in 2007- before the recession began.   More than half were because of medical debts and more than 75% of the families had health insurance!   Researchers from Harvard and from Ohio University say health care reform should be focused on a universal plan instead of expanding private insurance.

HEALTHY GIRL TALK: A little girl talk does a body good. A new study found when women connect emotionally with a girlfriend, levels of the hormone progesterone increase and that boosts mood levels and decreases stress. Researchers at the University of Michigan say the study helps explain why social contact appears to lead to overall improved health.

CRUNCH BERRY LAWSUIT: A woman has sued the makers of Captain Crunch Crunchberries.  She claims she'd been eating it for four years under the assumption that the Crunch berries are in fact real berries.  A California judge dismissed the complaint. He says there's no such fruit called a Crunchberry and that the box clearly depicts them as round, crunchy, brightly-colored cereal balls.
