Kraft Lowers Salt, Bald & Healthy

KRAFT LOWERS SALT: A major food company announces its cutting salt in all of its products sold in the U.S. Kraft Foods will lower the amount of salt in all of its products sold in North America. The changes will happen over the next two years and involve more than 1,000 products including a 10-percent salt cut in Velveeta cheese, a 17-percent cut for Oscar Mayer hot bologna and a 20-pecent cut for Easy Mac cups. The goal is to lower the amount of salt Americans consume; the majority of which comes from processed foods.

BAKE SALES BACK: We're taking the fun out of bake sales. That's what some people say is happening with the recent push for healthy foods in schools. They're planning a bake-in rally to protest city laws that ban the sale of homemade foods during school fundraisers. Officials say the goal is to reduce childhood obesity. Protesters argue that home baked goods are no longer permitted, but prepackaged and highly processed snacks such as Doritos are. The rally will happen today from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at City Hall.

BALD AND HEALTHY: Going bald may be good for your health. Researchers at the University of Washington say it could cut your risk of getting prostate cancer by 45- percent. They took a look at two thousand men between the ages of forty and forty- seven and say men who go bald by 30 appear to be less likely to develop that type of cancer. Their findings can be found in the Journal Cancer Epidemiology.
