MYFOXNY.COM - 5 time Oscar nominated cinemotrographer Caleb Deschanel is making his directorial debut with the production of "Burning in China".

Julie Chang talked to him about having famous daughters (actresses Zooey Deschanel and Emily Deschanel) as well as working with Mel Gibson during the filming of "The Patriot" and "Passion of the Christ".

Burning in China is about a professor who was in China during the late 1980's...how he witnessed the people of China...and his students coming together in hopes of democracy. The approx 90 min production is a one man show.

Burning in China will run at the New York Theater Workshop's 4th Street Theater (83 East 4th Street between 2nd and Bowery).
