MYFOXNY.COM - Both sides of the gay marriage debated on Good Day New York.

Len Deo, Founder and President of NJ Family Policy Council is opposed to legalizing marriages between same-sex couples.

State Senator Ray Lesniak is a strong supporter of the gay marriage bill.

"We're supporting the rights of human beings," said Lesniak.

"We believe the civil union law has not been given enough time to work through the system. Gay couples can file a complaint if the civil union law is not working," countered Deo.

Senator Lesniak contends Deo and like-minded supporters were opposed to civil unions in the first place.

"We have 120 clergy of various denominations who support marriage equality. What about their rights? The guy who said civil unions needs time to work opposed civil unions," said Lesniak.

Trenton insiders say the likelihood of the bill passing seems slim.

"Miracles do happen," said Lesniak. "It's hardly dead.. if we have to... demanding the Supreme Court uphold the constitution of New Jersey"

"We feel the people of new jersey should weigh in on the issue," said Deo.
