MYFOXNY.COM - Medical headlines for Tuesday, January 5.

Text of Dr. Sapna Parikh's report:

CHIROPRACTIC STROKE RISK?: Several advocacy groups in Connecticut are pushing for this-- saying chiropractors should be required to warn patients of the risk of stroke. The Connecticut State Board of Chiropractic Examiners will take up the question during hearings scheduled for today and tomorrow. If approved its thought that Connecticut would be the first state in the nation to make this warning mandatory. I have calls in to the Connecticut Health Department-- no word yet on when a ruling would be made. Chiropractors are fighting back saying there is no link between stroke and neck manipulation.

NEW MAMMOGRAM GUIDELINES: More guidelines when it comes to when women should get mammograms. These guidelines say women with an average risk of breast cancer should begin at age 40. High risk women should begin at age 30. These recommendations come from the American College of Radiology and the Society of Breast Imaging. They contradict recent guidelines from a government advisory panel that say women should wait until age 50 to begin screening mammograms.
