MORE BANK BAILOUT: The Obama administration is extending the $700- billion bank bailout program until October. Administrators claim the fund is still needed to prevent further turmoil in the financial system. Republicans say it should be used to shrink budget deficits.
LOWES SOLAR PANELS: Pretty soon you could save on your energy bills by installing your own solar panels. Lowe's is now stocking them at its California stores and plans to roll them out across the country next year, but buyer beware you must check your town for permits to put the panels on the roof and also make sure you have the proper electrical hook-up. The panels sale for about $900 each and produce enough power to run a flat screen TV.

General Mills is adding more party snack recipes to the 70-already on its website. The New York Times reports about half of the total yearly sales of Chex occur in the final three months of the year.
