Text of Dr. Sapna Parikh's report:
WTC ASTHMA: A new report finds that World Trade rescue workers are twice as likely to have asthma than the rest of the population. Other studies have linked breathing problems to ground zero exposure, but this report puts a number to it. Eight percent of the responders report having asthma post 9/11. The researchers say its a result of the "caustic dust and toxic pollutants" that were kicked up at the site.
SWINE FLU VACCINE: More swine flu vaccine is ready. Top health officials say that almost 32 million doses are now available-- although that's still a lot less than the 100 million that was expected to be ready by now. New York City elementary schools have been giving the vaccines in schools already. Starting this Saturday middle school and high school students can get the free H1N1 vaccine also at clinics that'll open in every borough. CLICK HERE FOR VACCINATION CLINIC INFO.
BAD MOOD GOOD THING: The next time you're in a bad mood-- that could actually be a good thing. These Australian researchers found that bad moods boost memory and judgment. They say the negative feelings make you more critical, less gullible and more attentive to your surroundings and so it could help you make better decisions.
