MYFOXNY.COM - Mayor Michael Bloomberg won re-election to a third term by only five percentage points.
Democratic Challenger Bill Thompson was endorsed by President Barack Obama but he did not campaign for Thompson while in the tri-state in the days leading up to the election.
NY Post Columnist Fred Dicker says the Bloomberg campaign knew it would be a close race despite polls that had Bloomberg with a double-digit lead.
Bloomberg spent close to $100 million. Thompson spent one-tenth that of that amount.
So what's next for Thompson? "He could run for State Comptroller next year. The position gives him control of a $120 billion pension fund. It's a high profile position. He could run for governor," said Thompson.
