MYFOXNY.COM - The election for the next governor of New Jersey is about one week away.

After a slow start in the polls, incumbent candidate Jon Corzine is making significant strides.

Good Day NY's Greg Kelly spoke with Governor Corzine on Monday about the election and his most formidable challenger- Chris Christie.

"Most elections come down to the last few days," said Corzine on Good Day NY. "About eight to ten percent of voters are still undecided."

The Governor says his strongest asset is "the ability to get us out sooner and stronger from this recession."

Corzine, like his challengers Christie and Chris Daggett, have repeatedly been asked one of the most pressing questions of any election in New Jersey: will you raise taxes?

"Raising taxes is the last resort."

Another hot button topic this season has been Christie's weight. Supporters of Corzine have used the candidate's physical size as a campaign point, but Corzine couldn't disagree more.

"I don't give a hoot about his weight," said Corzine who also pointed out people should be more concerned with Christie's alleged abuse of power in a traffic incident.

"He was going the wrong way... hit someone.. and didn't get a ticket."
