Lawyer for Letterman Accused Extortionist

MYFOXNY.COM - Defense Attorney Gerald Shargel is representing Robert 'Joel' Halderman in the alleged extortion plot against late night TV host David Letterman.

Shargel spoke with Good Day NY's Rosanna Scotto on Tuesday.

"He made it appear he is a victim," Shargel said about David Letterman's apologies during the Late Night show on Monday.

"This is not an open and shut case. Every day I get more facts that Letterman is not telling the whole truth."

Shargel emphasizes that "there is more to this story than meets the eye."

As for the many flings Letterman acknowledges having with female staffers and how that will impact the case against his client, Shargel says "there is an issue with respect to a woman... there is a lot to be said about this."

Halderman, his attorney says, "did not have criminal intent."
