Mosquito Fighting Products

MYFOXNY.COM - They can be the bane of the summer picnic:  mosquitoes.  On Thursday's Good Day New York, Dr. Sapna Parikh looks at some new products that claim to help you win in the fight against these biting bugs.

All this rain we've been getting means lots more mosquitoes. So how can you stop them from making a meal out of you? There are some things that claim to give you protection from head to toe. Like the new device called the Off Clip On. There is also a device called the Mosquito Annoyer. We took a look at both.

If you want to use a repellent that you apply to the skin, experts say ones with Deet are the gold standard and work the best. And even though a lot of people have concerns about the toxicity of Deet, experts say it offers the best protection if applied as directed. Although some people may have an allergic reaction such as a rash, expert say this is not necessarily harmful. And experts warn products with Deet should not be used in kids under two years old.
