MyFoxNY.com - New York's junior senator is behind a bill to ban potentially dangerous chemicals in plastic baby bottles, shampoos and body washes. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand talked about her proposal on Good Day NY.

Information on Bisphenol A:
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, a federal agency, plans to investigate whether being exposed to a chemical commonly found in plastic products -- including baby bottles and food containers -- could cause serious health problems.
The chemical is called Bisphenol A. Also, a California-based environmental advocacy organization, Environment California, has conducted tests on five brands of baby bottles -- Avent, Dr. Brown's, Evenflo, Gerber and Playtex -- and found them to leach the chemical.
